About This Part — IHI CCH500 Top Roller
The carrier roller mounts above the crawler frame rail and supports the return run of the track chain between the front idler and the drive sprocket. On a CCH500, there are typically one or two carrier rollers per side. Their job is to stop the upper chain from sagging and slapping against the frame — a worn or seized carrier roller lets the chain drop, which accelerates wear on the track links and increases load on both the idler and sprocket.
